Today is the final day for ballots to be counted in the election that will have no polling places---just mail in ballots and only a handful of issues.  Four candidates are running for three open seats on the board for the Aspen School District-------each carries a four year term.

Other than that--- ----a proposed tax hike in Eagle county that would pay for the design of a new recreation center near El Jebel under Referendum 4A.

Energy Smart---Referendum 1A----using bonds to generate improvements in how buildings retain heat and cut energy costs.

But the local marketing district proposal under 5A is no more----after some of the ballots were printed without the question on them-----it was dropped…and this week the Aspen Chamber Resort Association decided to drop the idea to ask lodge owners to voluntarily contribute the additional lodging tax revenues to fund marketing of the resort for next summer.
